ESPN Hates You

ESPN hates you. Or more to the point, ESPN really hates basketball fans. ESPN truly hates NBA fans. They prove they hate you the fan time and time again when they pull out Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless to debate any and all NBA issues. More Stephen A. bashing after the bump.

I hate Stephen A. Smith. I cited him as the worst broadcaster in sports in an older podcast and I stand by it today. The man cannot finish any NBA argument without saying the words "Lebron" or "Kobe". As if there were only two players in the NBA. Stephen A. will not talk about anyone unless they make at least 20 million dollars a season and have a Nike contract. The only non-superstar that Smith has ever talked about was in a rant against Rasho Nesterovic. And Stephen A. seemingly cannot make points unless he RAISES HIS VOICE. Fuck that guy.

Skip Bayless is just as bad. Bayless does not know what the fuck he is talking about. At any point. About any sport. Bayless makes knee-jerk reactions that are often proved wrong by anyone who researches facts. Bayless has no courage in his convictions and says things that alternately make no sense and enrage fans. Bayless would talk about players who make less than 20 million but he also only knows Lebron James and Kobe Bryant.

The only saving grace of any of the Smith-Bayless debates is when they had Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban on their show after the Miami Heat beat the Thunder in the NBA Championships this year. And because Mark Cuban is a great human being who loves basketball, he called both of the hosts out for not knowing what they are talking about. Bayless asked Cuban how the Mavericks shut down Lebron in the 2011 NBA Finals and Cuban looked dumbfounded. The Mavericks kept Lebron out of the lane and forced him to jack bad jump shots outside of his comfort zone. The Mavs placed Tyson Chandler around the basket to contest shots and Brian Cardinal stood in his way every time he had the ball. It is how you beat Lebron! Cuban praised his defensive schemes and his coaching staff and then went off on both Stephen and Skip. And to his credit, and I will never say this again Stephen A. Smith got out of this verbal lashing by simply shutting the fuck up. Skip Bayless kept talking and was taken to court by Mark Cuban for not doing research, for not backing up his points with evidence, and for not knowing shit about basketball. Mark Cuban is the only one on our side.

ESPN responds by putting Stephen A. Smith on your TV for 4 hours a day whenever anything happens in the NBA. They might as well be saying "watch something else" whenever they say "Stephen A Smith weighs in on...."
