People I Love to Watch Die

The world loves action movies. Action movies tend to not have any kind of plot. What they lack in storytelling and good acting they usually make up for with fighting sequences and memorable deaths. You may not be able to tell me what the last Rambo was about but I bet you would mention Sylvester Stallone firing that .50 caliber machine gun for 10 solid minutes. Character actors populate and thrive in the action genre. There are many guys who have made their careers playing soldiers, cops, captains, generals. And these character actors usually die. Violently. Here are 3 of my favorite actors more known for their deaths than their work.

Paul McCrane
Memorable Deaths include Robocop, ER
99% of you have no idea who this balding, red-headed actor is. But maybe you remember him playing a thug who got the absolute shit beaten out of him in Robocop. McCrane's thug character was splashed with tons of toxic waste and mutated. And then he was hit by a car and his melting body explodes. Awesome
He also played a surgeon on ER. In a memorable arc, he lost his arm to the blades of a helicopter. His character stayed long past the exits of George Clooney, Anthony "Goose" Edwards, and even Noah Wyle. Since he was the longest-tenured character they made the one-armed freak Chief of Surgery. McCrane was killed off the show when he was hit by a helicopter. AGAIN! Good actor, better deaths.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Memorable Deaths include: Weeds, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, Watchmen, Red Dawn
If you need a father figure to die early and be remembered by characters throughout its run, call Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He played the dearly departed dad in Supernatural and Weeds. His death causes Moms to start selling pot and sons to start fighting demons. Morgan's role as The Comedian in Watchmen kicks off the mystery with his death only 3 minutes into the film.
His most memorable deathly moment came in his role on Grey's Anatomy. Morgan makes Katherine Heigl tolerable as a terminally ill patient who falls in love with her doctor character. Morgan dies in the Season 1 finale, then comes back years later as a ghost haunting Katherine Heigl. Did I mention that he has sex with her? Ghost sex. Sex that only Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Ke$ha know about. The man dies and then comes back to pork a bitch. Classic.
.
Michael Biehn
Memorable Deaths include: Terminator, The Rock, Aliens, The Abyss, Jade, Grindhouse: Planet Terror, The Art of War, Tombstone
No actor has a greater history of deaths than Michael Biehn. Biehn is not a well-known actor but he has died so many times in so many movies. Biehn has died playing a time traveler, space marine, good cop, dirty cop, Navy Seal, sheriff, and outlaw. That is the definition of versatility. I now will rank his deaths. Included in the criteria is memorability, creativity, brutality, etc.
8. Jade, Killed by David Caruso. Caruso did not even wear sunglasses.
7. Art of War, Killed by Wesley Snipes after coming back from the dead to betray his friend. Meh.
6. Aliens, killed by acid to the chest and body (drowned during Aliens and Alien 3), Hicks was a great marine and died a hero.
5. The Rock, killed by Ed Harris' unit while storming Alcatraz. Comes in a leader, dies heroically in a firefight with his entire SEAL team.
4. Terminator, got the shit beaten out of him by the Terminator. But he got to fuck Linda Hamilton and create John Conner first.
3. The Abyss, crushed by water pressure. It is really cool to see what could happen if you are so deep in the ocean. Nature is beautiful and cruel.
2. Grindhouse: Planet Terror, shot by his deputy Tom Savini. The wound that kills Michael Biehn is not seen. It takes place during the "Missing Reel" scene that breaks into complete chaos.
1. Tombstone, dies in duel with Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday. Biehn did some really great villain work in Tombstone. He calls out the Earps at every opportunity and backs up his words with precision shooting. Then he meets his match and is shot in the face by Doc Holliday.
Watch any of the movies or TV shows I have listed and have a better night.
