I'm a longtime fan of Pro-wrestling. I've watched since I was a child. A good part of my 20's were spent trying to realize my dream of main eventing Wrestlemania, possibly in a career Vs career match. See, I didn't worry about being chosen to loose my career in a pro-wrestling match because all that meant was taking some time off only to return after a few months or maybe a year. Now it appears MMA life imitating WWEs "art" as rumors persist that BJ Penn and Brock Lesnar will be following Jamie Varner our of retirement before the end of the year.
With Lesnar it is mostly just talk, but it is talk that has persisted since he lost to John Cena at WWE's Extreme Rules PPV back in April. At the time it didn't make much sense for WWE to have a guy with mainstream appeal to loose his first big match back in the company. The rumors went from "pay no attention" to "red fucking hot" when Lesnar was shown sitting cage side at UFC 146. Don't forget Dana Whites post 146 interview where he mentioned there may have been a reason Brock was there.
The guys over at The Wrestling Observer are reporting those pesky "sources close to" Brock are saying he will be fighting in the UFC by the end of 2012. Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve, and Shane Carwin are the names they are floating as an opponent.
BJ Penn is less rumor and more straight from The Prodigys mouth. Earlier in the week on Ariel Helwanis MMA Hour Rory MacDolald mentioned the respect he had for Penn and that he would like a fight with the future Hall of Famer. BJ took to his website and said
"Rory, I accept your challenge!"
As far as I can tell nothing is officially set for the two to fight, but I'm sure Dana is scrambling to make this fight happen. Rory is a dangerous up and comer who has been taken under GSP's wing. BJ is a future Hall of Famer who has a long standing feud with GSP. That story writes it's self.
With these two most likely back lets see how long Nick Diaz and Jason Millers retirements last.
